Indeed.

  1. I love this poem; it's in fact very special. Joel's father gave it to me b/c he knew I loved Rilke and he loved this poem since he was a young man. He couldn't find it in a poetry collection until recently and gave me this gorgeous old book for Christmas. It was the very first poem. Later, as a gift to him, I made a photography book set to the words.

    I know a different translation, though.

    "I live my life in widening rings
    which spread over earth and sky.
    I may not ever complete the last one,
    but that is what I will try.

    I circle around God's primordial tower,
    and I circle ten thousand years long;
    And I still don't know if I'm a falcon,
    a storm, or an unfinished song."

    This is certainly no coincidence, soul friend.

  4. It is such a small world. I recently did a custom piece based on this poem also. It's so lovely.

    Beautiful work as always. <3
