4.3 cm, 12 weeks!

My Baby,

When this picture was taken you were asleep upside-down:
a few minutes later you woke up and began performing the most beautiful ballet
I've ever seen.

You are 4.3 cm, or roughly the size of a really substantial cabochon.

We drove home from the doctor giddy, your Papa and I.

In Love,
Mama

So exciting, it always makes it seem more real somehow when you get to see the baby, so reassuring (at least it was for me when I was pregnant). Wishing you a safe, healthy, happy pregnancy and continued joy as your family grows.

Fascinating to imagine watching your own fetus turn about inside you. Also, it really tickles me that you compared it to one of your beloved pieces of stone instead of the usual fruit/vegetable most folks go with. :)

Heather - MUAH :)
Susie - Yes, it does make for a calmer day, for certain :)

Anonymous: that's funny you should mention that: when Anthony and I were driving home I was trying to figure out how big 4.3 cm would be and a 43mm cabochon came to mind, big and beautiful :) xoxox

yay for the little jewel of a bambino! I was so addicted to seeing/hearing Evvy moving when i was pregnant that I dopplered or ultrasounded my self quite a bit in the first several months...in hindsight it likely wasn't a good idea as we really don't know the longterm effects of ultrasonic vibration to fetuses, but it always made my day at the time! And we call Steve Papa too. I think it's a great term of endearment for a father!

Oh, Allison!! This gave me tears, as so many things do right now. Anything baby related turns me to mush. Congratulations, mama! How beautiful.

Congratulations-you are on a wonderous journey! If you haven't picked one up all ready, please consider browsing through a copy of Spiritual Midwifery. A beautiful book of stories of women and families giving birth. The second half is a handbook for midwives-don't read if you are squeamish :)
