O.M.Goodness.

Oh dear, Y'all.....

I just did something really silly for which I may either be really happy or really embarrassed:

I called in and auditioned for my local country station's version of American Idol:

Sonoma County Idol!

Pardon me, I was giggling so hard I had to pause: I don't know what possessed me, as I normally dismiss that kind of thing, but the grand prize was $1,000.00 and mama needs to get to Tucson this spring, so I figured it would be the perfect thing to try....

The only thing: if you make it past the phone audition you have to sing onstage at a country/western bar here called Kodiak Jack's.

They have a mechanical bull, guys.....

Needless to say, I'll be having a bit of whiskey before I make my Sonoma County debut - IF I get past the phone audition.

Yikes!!!
Wish me luck, and please share with me the silliest contest YOU'VE ever entered!!!

Oh my gosh, I am so excited for you and your ballsiness! Yeeeehaaawww!! You'll be so amazing, and with a little liquid courage, phenomenal. Just don't get drunk and get on the bull. It always ends badly in the movies.

oh that's awesome. That's something I'd do. Not quite a contest but once me and a friend dressed up as Christmas presents to win a $100.00 IKEA gift card. Only the first 100 people would get one. Apparently getting there at 4AM was too late!

Break a leg! And of course I mean that figuratively though I'm sure the mechanical bull might make it possible. ;P

Dear friends,

No worries: if I make it to the 16 finalists, I will not indulge in the bull.
I MIGHT try my hand at country line dancing, though :)

Corinna: I thought of you and our discussions on boldness when I was done singing - I know you would have been proud :)

Michelle: You are so loved - it will be the first thing I open upon my return :)

Miznyc: oh my goodness, I bet you were the cutest gift EVER!!! :)

Elaine: I believe voting consists of bellowing your drunken approval from the dark recesses of the bar!! ;)

Dave - no bull :) And yes, I am small but mighty!!!

Okay, I'll be the only one who says it: RIDE THE BULL! I so dare you. Plus, seeing as you're judged on audience reponse, if you ride and sing, I bet you'll have the contest all tied up before you even hit the first chorus!

Good luck!!! I don't have a silly contest story - but my baby sister once drove from St. Louis to New York and back handcuffed to three guys as part of a radio contest trying to win tickets to the MTV music awards. She didn't win, but came back with quite the story!
