From Death, Life!

Of late, there has been so much death surrounding so many people I know: it is a constant, a reminder to live vibrantly and NOW.

Unselfishly, though, there is life that comes from death. Quite literally, the tiny beings that surrender in the earth make the soil rich enough to continue sustaining life;
the losses and heartaches we endure as human beings open our hearts to being more compassionate, bigger and capable of higher levels of loving
and
ultimately,

the end of our own life serves to open the hearts and minds of others.
I know it's something people don't really love thinking about....

perhaps I became so comfortable speaking and thinking about the Big D (and I don't mean Dallas, or divorce for that matter!! ;) ) because I had a mother who worked in hospice
or because I sensed from an early age that those who lived continued to influence and communicate after their death...

a dream
a symbol
a benevolent haunting...

From death, life and back again... the unbroken circle.

It seems right to have made this clutch in the fall when nature will rest to renew herself in March....

it seems right in so many ways.

The inside is lined with a gorgeous flowered blue and violet suede: there are a few places in the side seams where it does not quite reach the stitching, and because I am a perfectionist, that means a small discount.

The tooling is detailed, the rose inlay inspiring with its pink, orange cream and red shading, utter gorgeousness for those to whom artistic color matters.

The external edges of the suede are the lightest violet and have been pinked to give the clutch a girly and lighter tone, balancing out the subject matter.

Swing clasp, flowered and plain nickel rivets...
hand-everything-ed
10X5X2.5
perfect for night or day, constructed of the finest materials so your children and their children can enjoy it, too.

In the Leather Shop today!

Gorgeous! I love the beauty of animal skulls! Death and rebirth is on my mind right now as I watch the leaves fall as the trees prepare to rest for winter. (And as the female spiders eat their mates!) I went camping this past weekend and feel such joy when I see little things growing from a fallen tree. What a great reminder of the big cycle we're all part of!

That is gorgeous. I love the roses of "Life." (Because if the big "D" is death, life definitely gets a big "L"!!)
