Tiny Wings and Foxy Things

Yesterday as I deadheaded the rose bushes in the backyard I noticed something big and black under the closest one to the house:

we have these massive ebony bumble bees and there was a single beastie,
dead and stiff as a board.

Only a damn metalsmith would take the bee in to her husband and ask him to
removed its wings
so that she might immortalize them, or cry trying!!

That picture up there is as macro as I can get, so teeny tiny is the wing. Watching these beautiful insects fly is one of the joys of my day:
I am so sad to have seen one fallen, but so happy to think its
body might become a part of something beautiful.

On to leather: the foxes for the epic extra large hobo are painted
and
like
totally hella into each other -
can you see it?

Working today was pure pleasure as I actually took the entire weekend off- nary a putter was heard in this house.

xoxoxo,
Allison

I am a collector of insect wings, feathers and beautiful bumble bee and dragonfly bodies too. I always had a "nature shelf" in our house when my girls were young. I can't wait to see how you incorporate the tiny wings into one of your creations.

I adore your foxes! I can feel their love for each other.
You do beautiful work.
